All Walks of Life

Happy Halloween y'all! I'm just sitting by the door waiting for the trick or treaters to yell at my door. Whatever happened to ringing the doorbell and then yelling in my face? Oh well. It seems as though that as years pass by, the number of children who canvass for candy decrease. Are they all at the malls? What a pity if they are. I used to stay out as late as possible and wait until my pillowcase was unbearably heavy. I'm sure that most of you reading this can relate.
Being back in Canada to celebrate a holiday that isn't very popular outside of North America is exciting. Although, I must admit that the bar I attended last year in Cambodia was quite reminiscent of our traditions. It was much better than the lame ass "halloween" I spent with mostly British and European travellers the previous year in Malaysia (no offense, but you guys just don't aprreciate Halloween in the same way I do).

This year I attended a Halloween party with my new found friend Maribeth (aka Erykah Badu), the hosts went all out with decor and ghoulish treats. Good times, good times...

Those are great costumes! You guys look fantastic! As per Al's blog, I've always wanted to settle down with a nice Jewish boy, so I'll be sure to invite you to the wedding. (Whenever that happens!) Bring on the klezmers!
I think you're right - they're all at the malls now. Seems like each year the crowd on the streets gets smaller & smaller. And what's left of my bag of candies to give out gets bigger & bigger. To the latter, of course I have to say - s'all good! But, ya, I remember freezing my butt off lugging around a sack full of candy & a heavy unicef change box that would strain my neck, all while wearing a plastic mask that cut off half of my field of vision. And at the end of our day we'd get inside the house to thaw, our cheeks all rosy & eyes all aglow, and man, despite the stale popcorn & previous years' reject candies, we were grateful. Yes sir, THAT was halloween! Kids today are wimps! (heehee) I'm glad you guys came out on Saturday!!! Helped me reminisce of the good times back in the day...
